WBA WOMEN
The Club has con昀椀rmed the appointment
of Siobhan Hodgetts as Head Coach of its
women’s 昀椀rst team this Summer.
West Bromwich-born Hodgetts has a near 20-year association with the
club, joining the Albion Foundation’s sta昀昀 as a coach in 2004, before
representing it for eight years as a player from 2006 to 2014.
The former central mid昀椀elder has since earned roles with Birmingham
City University and the Football Association and returned to the club in
2016 as a coach in the women’s setup.
Hodgetts said: “As a player and a coach I have seen with my own eyes
the huge strides the women’s team has taken over the past 20 years
and now we are working to build a positive environment for our players
to be as competitive as we can be in the short and long term. The club
continues to increase its support for the women’s game behind the
scenes and its backing means this is a really exciting time as we look to
improve again this season.”
Albion Women had a 3-1 win over Stoke City on 20th August in their
opening match this season. The result was the perfect start for new boss
Siobhan Hodgetts and her FA Women’s National League Northern Premier
Division side.
They recently earned a thoroughly-deserved 4-1 win at The Hawthorns
against Hudders昀椀eld Town in their latest FAWNL 17th September. “We’re
really excited to be playing at The Hawthorns – it’ll be my 昀椀rst time
leading the team out there, and I know the players always really enjoy
these occasions,” said Head Coach Siobhan ahead of the game.
She also said “We saw how much the public got behind the Lionesses at
the World Cup, and hopefully Baggies fans can do the same. It would be
amazing to get a big crowd in to support our girls and make it a day to
remember for everybody involved.”This magazine is a celebration of our
collective achievements, and we can’t thank you enough for being a part
of our wonderful community!
